French Conference: The Mediterranean Sea - sewn or cut?

The Interdisciplinary Network for the Development and Cohesion of the European Territory and its Neighborhoods (RIATE) is organising European conference "The Mediterranean Sea, sewn or cut?" on October 22, 2014 in Paris.

As an ESPON contact point in France, the RIATE in partnership with the Directorate Interministerial Delegation for the Mediterranean (DiMED), is organizing a day capitalizing ESPON results concerning the Mediterranean neighborhood, especially the results of ESPON ITAN  project "Integrated Territorial Analysis of the Neighbourhoods", whose leader is the International College of Science Planning GIS CIST (directed by Pierre and Claude Beckouche Grasland).

The aim of the conference is to analyze the context and challenges of cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean Sea, and thus identify potential policy developments and to find tools and best practices to actors working in the Mediterranean.

The conference will be organized around five themes:

  • Transport and Urban Development;
  • Environment and Water;
  • Agriculture and Food Security;
  • Energy;
  • Migration.
